Eviction, Coming To A Box Office Near You

Brendon Rachel and Daniele Big Brother 13While my poster above implies there is some love affair between Daniele and Brendon, there may as well should be considering the turn of events that have happened in the house as of roughly 9pm on Thursday night.

Daniele did what she was fully expected of her that night, win what could have been a long endurance challenge, just like she did her last time in the house.  This challenge was far easier than it should have been which disappointed a lot of fans, simply because some (Adam and Lawon) bailed before the feeds even turned back on, and the rest of the guys were out of it like 20 minutes later.

Nominations Are Revealed – Warning, Disturbing Content

After a pretty wild turn of events in the house over the past 24 hours, not at all helped by any tricks or gimmicks by the Big Brother team aside reversing the dumb team twist.   They finally let every person play (except for the outgoing HoH), and sure enough one of the outgoing golden key holders won the challenge (Daniele).

If you’re just tuning into Big Brother this season, just to summarize, Daniele is not a huge fan of the four veterans running the house and it all blew up this week.   So when she won the HoH, it was all but a certainty that two of them will be on the block with the other two as the backup option.

Jeff and Jordan pretty much kept a low profile about the whole thing, except for some internal talking, but Brendon and Rachel decided to do some major, major ass kissing.  They offered to cut some deals, like keeping Daniele safe for a week if she didn’t put them up.

Well, the nomination ceremony was tonight, and here are the results:

The Golden Failure

Last night concluded the failure that was the golden key experiment on Big Brother 13, and it couldn’t have come sooner.     The concept sounded harmless enough at first, but it was quickly realized by the houseguests that there was some confusion over the keys that were never answered until last night when the 4th promised key was never handed out to Adam.

The way it worked was that 7 teams were formed from the start of the game, and every time someone was eliminated, their partner was given a golden key which allowed them to cruise to the final 10 without competing in challenges.   The problem with that is by the time the 3rd key was handed out, that would have meant 11 people remained in the house.  The next eviction, which happened last night, is the final 10, so Adam’s key became irrelevant and it was never handed out or even mentioned.  In fact, the only thing that was mentioned last night is that the keys are no longer in the game, and partners are split up.

So why was there 4 promised keys and only 3 handed out?

Was this a last minute decision that was not very well thought out?  That would certainly coincide with the rumors of the houseguest who was supposed to enter but never did, which would have made it an odd number.

Was it because Big Brother realized too late that the game was very quickly becoming stale?  Because of the key situation, two teams were guaranteed to play the power of veto competition leaving a 50% chance for the third team being the same exact pairings as the week before.   If Adam had received the key, that would have meant there would be no drawing, and the veto competition would have been arranged the second nominations were handed out.

Was it because a combination of the two were hurting ratings?   Not surprisingly, they have done nothing but drop ratings on the power of veto night, and for the most part have remained the same or dropped ratings from the prior week every episode but one heading into last night.

What we did learn from the golden keys is that in the future, no contestant should be immune to challenges or nominations for more than a week, and that should be a reward, not simply because their partner was more disliked than they were (Porsche).   Nearly a month of the most athlete female sitting on the sidelines because her father left the game early is terrible for the game, and it showed.

Is there still time for Big Brother 13 to be saved?  That’s too early to say, but I can tell you right now that last night’s episode and sequential HoH challenge that everyone was allowed to play drew the most interest I have seen all season.    Now, if they can find a way to get back the actual game players like Dom and Dick back into the game, we could be looking at a great finish.

Shake-Up In The Big Brother House As Daniele Wins HoH

big brother 13 daniele winsIt was a good night in the Big Brother house if you’re on the side of Daniele (so a good night for Daniele and Kalia pretty much) and a bad night if you’re rooting for the veterans.

The live show began with flashbacks of the wild week that was, with Daniele swimming against the current that was the veteran four, dodging the floaters along the way.  Somewhere along the swim, she was actually able to get the once dead log that was Kalia to wake up and actually play the game.

This resulted in some nice on the spot questions by Julie Chen, and the houseguests putting on a smile and acting like nothing was wrong, when you can clearly see they wanted to dive across the living room and throttle Daniele.   Something about the Donato’s being in the house tends to do that to people, which is why they’re entertaining to watch.

The live eviction went pretty much what I expected it would, with Kalia wimping out at the last minute and voting for Dominic… although his comments about the rest of the house needs to stop acting like spineless jellyfish probably didn’t help his case by winning the sympathy votes from the floaters, like Kalia.    It certainly didn’t help his friendship with Adam as he just stared at Dominic completely stunned by his partner being weak comments.

Dominic Gets A Game Play Tip

After Dominic got the boot (7-1 vote), it was time for Julie to announce her twist that will completely shake up the game forcing people to change their strategies!  She sat them down and revealed the newest twist was…..

drum roll please….

The golden keys are out of the game and the game goes back to it’s normal format, no more teams!   Wait, what?  So the big twist is to stop the original twist?  That’s like Survivor:Nicaragua when they had the ridiculous twist of old vs young and then shook it up after the damage had already been done by removing the twist.   After 4 weeks of domination by the veterans, they split everyone up now that their alliance has become super strong and the newbies are nice and scattered.

The game must go on, and that it did out back where it was time for the first real endurance challenge of the season.  Everyone got up on these little platforms with skis attached to them and rocked back and forth with a nice squeak to drive you pretty much insane.   As if the 30 hour lockdown wasn’t enough to motivate people to drop early for smoke breaks, Julie announced 5 snowballs were available for people who were eliminated from the competition.  You didn’t have to take a snowball, as some didn’t, but she told everyone that one contained $10,000.

The results of the snowball bonus:

  • Adam – Has to wear an elf suit for a week
  • Brendon – Have Not
  • Lawon – Slop Pass
  • Jordan – Have Not
  • Jeff – $10,000

Like I predicted, the challenge would come down to the women in the house, but I was a little nervous because when I was doing the predictions, I honestly forgot Porsche was in the game still.   Of course, despite being pretty fit, Porsche did her thing and gave up about an hour and ten minutes after the challenge began, leaving just Shelly on the skis against Kalia and Daniele.

When Shelly  jumped off just 10 minutes after Porsche, it started to settle in that there would finally be a much needed shake up in the Big Brother house.  Everyone knew Daniele was going to win at that point, and it was just a matter of time.   Kalia gave her a few minutes, but quickly worked out a deal to be safe (as if there were any doubt) and just like that, one of the veteran 4 will be going home on Thursday.

—–

Overnight it was time for the vets to get together and work out a plan to try and stay inside the house in tact, but they all realized that probably won’t happen.   Jordan offered to go home if she were put on the block, but she has to get to that point first.  Right now I think Daniele’s biggest target is the Brendon and Rachel because they
a) Put Dominic on the block
b) Talked to Daniele about backdooring Jeff then ran and told him
c)  Didn’t  use the veto to save Dom after making a deal with him

While Jeff can thinks Daniele hates him all he wants, the fact is that Rachel is a strong competitor, Brendon isn’t really well liked, both betrayed Daniele, and most are frankly tired of the pair together.

Daniele talking to Rachel

Later on in the night, Rachel takes it upon herself to talk with Daniele and try to work out a deal to keep the 4 safe, trying to guarantee her a week of safety if she puts someone like Lawon on the block instead of the fab 4, but at this point I think she’s talking to a wall.   Daniele simply doesn’t trust them, and I don’t blame her.   She is not playing for 5th place, so I see no reason why she would knock out another potential vote (in Lawon) just so she can live another week.   Daniele knows she needs to become close with Lawon, Adam and possibly Shelly if she wants to have a real shot.

When Rachel leaves, she goes up to Brendon and immediately is lectured about talking to Daniele by herself.  Brendon is trying to pull some serious Boston Rob type of shit this season.     It’s shocking that one of the most unlikable couples is paired up with one of the most likeable couples and they do pretty well together.

Keep watching the feeds because I’m sure last night is only the beginning.  Brendon is already talking about calling out Daniele again and probably making another scene, and you don’t want to miss it.

When we left the houseguests, they were on skis getting snow blasted at them while 4 snowballs tempted them to fall off.  The snowballs contain one $10k prize, and likely (2) one-week slop passes and one other reward.   Refresh this page or watch the live feeds to see who gets knocked out first.. me or the houseguests!   I predict: me!

Hold On To Your Horses – Eviction Tonight!

It’s Thursday, so you know what that means?  It’s live eviction night in the Big Brother house!

It’s been a very entertaining week in the house, easily the best so far, despite what CBS has aired for you to see.  Despite what you had to witness on Sunday night’s episode, the house is actually not the Brendon and Rachel show.   Our annoying love birds took a back seat this week to the bombshell that was Daniele vs Jeff.

It all started when Daniele forgot to realize that people actually talk in that house.  See, she tried to forge this plan to get Brendon and Rachel to backdoor their day 1 allies Jeff and Jordan, and in Daniele-land, her plan did make a lot of sense.   Split up the former winner and her strong boyfriend, all while keeping her ally in the game (Dominic).  What she didn’t expect is that Brendon and Rachel want to come in 3rd and 4th behind Jeff and Jordan, so they ran and told them which set off the fireworks.
